C.F. SAUER CENTER

In 2019 and again in 2020 to enhance their strategic vision, Sauer Properties partnered with Commonwealth Power LLC to engineer and install seven ornamental solar carports, and two roof top arrays on the 2000 West Marshall redevelopment in downtown Richmond.

Inspired by Richmond’s historic railroad trestles, the canopies’ design is a nod to the old electric trolley stations. The canopies will seamlessly fit into the roadside aesthetic of downtown Richmond and complement the steel awnings at the nearby Virginia Science Museum. The solar has a combined 349.5KWDC power rating and interconnected to the adjacent buildings. The architectural steel canopies were designed by Freeman and Morgan Architecture.
