ALTERNATIVE ENERGY TECHNICIAN (SOLAR)

Commonwealth Power is seeking alternative energy technicians to join our commercial solar installation team. This position will work under the direction and supervision of a lead installer. The ideal candidate has experience in both commercial solar roof and ground mount installations. Starting wage based on previous experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Installing solar PV panels, racking systems, and related equipment. Maintaining a safe and clean work environment.

  • Arriving at the job site on time and ready to work.

  • Operating power tools, saws, drills, ladders, and construction equipment. Working safely at elevated heights.

Requirements:

  • 2+ years in solar installation or related electrical/construction fields. Reliable transportation.

  • OSHA 10 or 30 and NFPA 70E at the time of employment.

  • Ability to lift heavy material (50+ LBS) including solar PV panels, tools, and other materials. Ability to work on your feet in varying weather conditions.

  • Ability to take direction and maintain a positive attitude.

Type: Full-time

Salary: From $18.00 /hr

COMMERCIAL SOLAR ELECTRICIAN

Commonwealth Power LLC is seeking an experienced solar electrician to work with our electrical installation team. Applicants with a background in energy or electrical contracting are encouraged to apply. The electrician will work with construction managers and project managers to design, build, commission, and close out projects. The position will also require service calls, operation and maintenance duties, and conducting quality control inspections. We are based in Richmond and welcome hires from other areas. Travel expenses paid and per diem offered. Starting hourly rate based on experience and qualifications.

Typical Day:

  • Working with RMC, RAC, EMT conduit. Sizes 1”-4”. Bending and Threading.

  • Mounting AC Panels, Switches, Junction Boxes, Inverters, Troughs and Data/Coms Equipment. Setting up and executing long wire pulls.

  • Receiving and cataloging material and performing job site takeaways. House Keeping.

  • Testing, commissioning, and operational maintenance.

Position Requires:

  • Reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and an ability/willingness to travel within 150-mile range of Richmond, Virginia.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a commercial electrician.

  • Has tools and abilities to commensurate with the above experience.

  • Experience in electrical supervision and quality control.

  • Experience conducting and communicating project takeaways, hazard analysis, after action reports, daily reports, toolbox talks and strong project management communication skills.

  • Ability to follow and implement company driven safety protocol. OSHA 10 required at the time of employment. Strong organization and communication skills.

  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and scheduling demands. Trained and certified to operate basic construction equipment.

  • Proficiency in Google Suite and ability to learn and use product software. Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs.

  • Ability and willingness to work on all types and levels of buildings (e.g., roofs, ladders, rough terrain, tight space and mechanical rooms).

  • Ability to work outside in all ranges of seasonal conditions.

  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, stand, squeeze, and spend 8 hours a day on your feet.

  • Ability to pass a background check, provide right to work in the US documentation, and pass drug/alcohol screenings.

  • Professional personal appearance, demeanor, and ability to make a positive impression on clients. Positive can-do attitude and willingness to contribute to a positive and exciting work environment.
